Torso, arms, legs and head. Learn to draw the human figure with Siobhan Twomey.
Recreating the human figure is one of the most daunting tasks that an aspiring artist/animator dares to attempt. How to get the shapes to look real? What about the physical proportions? How do all the parts fit together in a convincing way? Well, no worries! Let Siobhan Twomey – in her gentle and inspiring way – teaches you all the tips and techniques to make drawing the human form just another technique in your artist’s repertoire.
This course starts out with a review of both the gesture and contour drawing techniques that Siobhan covered in her previous courses except this time she applies them to the human form. You learn about capturing the pose by using contour and cross contour as you draw point to point to shape the proportions of the human body.
Next up is an artist’s study of human anatomy. You really can’t draw the outside unless you know what’s on the inside! You learn all about the torso and pelvis and how they work together to complete the ever twistable and expressive human core. From there, Siobhan explains the workings of the arms and legs with all of their variation and movements. She concludes this course with a look at the head and shows you how to get the general proportions and shapes of the eyes, nose, ears and mouth just right.
By the time you complete this course you will have all of the techniques you need to continue practicing on your own as you learn to draw from life with confidence and ease!
