The dock is where the boat is tethered

Wharf is generally a building that has been designed to dock and moor a ship that will carry out loading and unloading of goods and up and down passengers which is a structure that connects the land and consists of top buildings made of beams, floor plates and supporting piles Building on it. Dock construction is required to withstand forces due to crashing of ships and load during loading and unloading. The dock dimension is based on the type and size of the vessel that will be docked and tethered on the dock. In considering the size of the dock should be based on minimum sizes so that the ship can tether and leave the dock as well as loading and unloading safely, quickly and smoothly. There are various types of docks, here are some examples:

Special dock

Is a dock made specifically to be used as transportation of special goods such as examples: Fuel oil and so forth.

A dock for fishing boats.

The marina pier

Is a pier that is usually occupied for speed boat boats, cruise ships.

The jetty can be divided into two types: wharf or quai and jetty or pier.

Wharf

Is a pier parallel to the beach and usually coincides with the coastline. Wharf can also serve as a retaining ground behind it.

Jetty or pier

Is a jetty that juts into the sea. In contrast to the wharf used to seal one side, the jetty can be used on one side or two sides, which is usually parallel to the shore and connected to the mainland by a bridge that usually forms an angle perpendicular to the jetty, so the jetty can be finger-shaped.
