Durga Puran asserts the divine feminine goddess Durga to be the supreme power. She is a figure of devotional appeal amongst Hindus and is believed to be the primordial creator of the universe. The Devi Bhagavata Purana consists of 12 skandhas (sections) and has 318 adhyayas (chapters) each glorifying Goddess Durga as the epitome of Shakti (feminine power). Hindus worship goddess Durga as Devi who is believed to be the origin of all existence because initially, the supreme power was ‘Nirguna’ (without form) which later manifested herself as three Shaktis (Sattvik, Rajasi, and Tamasi).
