The “Decentralized Energy 3D” application will show you what is called decentralized efficient energy through the use of 3D models of various energy devices. It will provide you with interesting information on the expansion and prospects of local energy sources, especially renewable ones, explain the principles and laws of their functioning and explain their impact on the power balance and stability of electricity and heat supply. You will understand why the current trend in energy is decentralization, why the partial coverage of local energy consumption is important, and how the perception of minority energy sources is changing.

Getting to know decentralized energy begins by looking at a 3D model of part of the landscape with highlighted objects that make up small power generating units, or have some relation to a modern decentralized energy system. By panning, rotating, and zooming in on the scene, you can view the landscape of objects from any perspective from the perspective of a flying drone. Significant objects allow nesting into new scenes with detailed 3D models of the device, other complementary objects contain only a brief explanatory description. In the detailed view, another text-visual information level of the application is available, which besides describing the meaning, construction and types of the selected source also offers a number of illustrative photographs.

As you browse through individual application objects, you will learn not only which energy sources are represented in decentralized energy, but also how such modern energy is managed and operated, and to what extent it is safe and environmentally friendly. In addition to the known alternative sources, attention is paid to cogeneration gas sources, prospective hydrogen energy and small modular nuclear reactors. In connection with the greater representation of intermittent sources in the energy mix, the ways and possibilities of energy storage or the advantages of virtual power plants are explained. Small power plants on their roofs, together with battery systems, are slowly beginning to influence the behavior of the distribution system. In this part of the application you will learn about the interesting relationship between energy and emerging electromobility.

After gathering theoretical information about the most frequently used energy sources, you can play in the application a fun game consisting of assembling various 3D models of energy devices from their parts. Try to put yourself in the role of a designer, to train spatial imagination and to compose eg a water microturbine, an interesting Stirling engine or a model of a small modular reactor.
