Creative DIY Lettered Pumpkin

Best application that provides great ideas to make your halloween more cheerful.

We wanted to create a pumpkin that we could display for Halloween yet keep around until Thanksgiving. Since we needed it not to rot I had to go with a fake one but they are all rather ugly. Luckily they are easy to paint and decorate. we love the natural look of our wood letters and decided to combine them with cream and gold which are some of our favorite colors to use during the fall. Items Needed: Unpainted Wood Letters. Mine are 2 and 3 inches tall in the Harrington font. Fake pumpkin Gold & ivory spray paint Double sided tape Scissors Wood stain Foam brush Masking tape Gather Your Materials You will want some newspaper to spray paint on as well. Stain the Wood Letters Use the foam brush and stain to color the letters. The nice part about the laser cut letters is you don't have to worry about staining the sides since they are already dark. Mask the Stem Since I like the color if the stem as-is, I used masking tape to protect it from the spray paint. Gold Turn the pumkin upside down. I actually placed the roll of masking tape underneath it so it would stay put even with the stem. Go ahead and paint the majority of the pumpkin gold. Allow to dry. Reveal the Stem Peel the tape off of the stem Cut the Tape Use the scissors to cut the double sided tape into small strips just big enough to fit on the letters. Add the Tape Add several pieces of tape to the backside of each letter. Place Lettering Adhere the letters to the pumpkin. This can take a little finesse to find the right spots for the flat letters on the round pumpkin. Lettering Complete Here is how my letters turned out. Done! Display and enjoy!
