We make clothes that lasts and want you to experience life wearing our garments for a long time making your wardrobe sustainable and guilt free. We began our journey with a quest to find the most high-quality fabrics and sustainable fashion. We were tired of the “International Brands” literally dumping inferior quality products into our market at “affordable prices”. We started the ground work in 2018 and tried various fabrics to match our company’s ideology. We wanted the products we sell to last long. We wanted to give the people who consumed our products at least a 100 washes assurance from all of our collections and some even higher. We finally launched our brand in 2021 after all the market research and R&D to give the best quality possible.

We combine the most superior quality fabric and design from around the world with our local bespoke, highly skilled tailoring, to achieve some great quality garments that also helps out a local community. We believe in fair pay and pay the tailor and others involved in the manufacturing sector three times the industry’s average so that they will have a well-deserved decent livelihood and be able to support all their family requirements with dignity. Ethical fashion & Fair trade is the way forward. This helps our brand’s overall positive approach to the environment as well as the community. We simply try to make this a better place with what ever means/way that we have. All our garments have the additional stich giving it a superior durability.

Eco-friendly packaging – At Controversial, every package that we send out is eco-friendly. We went one step further by sending out seed papers along with every order to encourage our customers to make their kitchens self-sufficient. The seed papers that come along with order has seeds like Tomato, capsicum, Chilly, carrots, lettuce and some herbs. The aim is to encourage our customers to begin their sustainable journey by introducing them to an easy, DIY gardening that can even bring down their grocery bills and enjoy fresh home-grown herbs and vegetables. We hope that all our clients invest 5 mins of their time to make their homes/ surroundings better.

Breaking trends and fast fashion – We at controversial are strongly against fast fashion and we would want to create a more sustainable wardrobe. Fashion industry is the second highest polluter right after Oil. The world is still trying to get the oil companies responsible to clean by the pollution they have caused, getting the fashion industry on this boat will be an even bigger challenge unless consumer demand changes everything. Being sustainable is not going to be a choice for a very long time. The world around us is changing because of our actions, we try to swim against the current by encouraging and educating people on the importance of being eco-friendly and sustainable.

How is Controversial Sustainable? We only make garments of high quality ensuring a fewer garment ends up in the landfill dumps. An average “fast fashion” shirt lasts only for 2-3 months or 15-20 washes. A well-maintained garment from our brand can last upto a decade and very well easily over 100 washes. Although a high-quality sustainable garment can cost upto 1.5-2 times the price, it very well justifies its price tag by serving you 5-6 times longer than the average fast fashion garment. This will not only help you save a lot of money in the long run but also help you save the carbon footprint you leave behind and a lot less garments ending up in the dumps and polluting the environment.

Biodegradable Fabrics – Since we strictly do not add polyester or any non-biodegradable items in our fabrics, our garments take only 2-3 months to naturally degrade vs the other non-biodegradable fabrics that takes over 100 years to naturally degrade.
