The 1983 Constitution of the Republic of El Salvador is the fundamental norm of the Salvadoran State, in force since December 20 of that year.

Said regulation was adopted in its original form by a Constituent Assembly formed in 1982, which was transformed into a Legislative Assembly when the new Magna Carta came into effect.

Since 1991, on the occasion of the negotiations that culminated in the signing of the Peace Accords on January 16, 1992, the Constitution has undergone various changes since it came into force that have added, modified or eliminated part of its content.
