Are you suffering from cluster headaches?

Then take part in the research project "CLUE – researching cluster headaches". As a participant, we provide you with a free and individual headache diary in the form of this app and the web platform at https://melden.cluster.kopfschmerz-radar.de/. You can report and edit your seizures both in the app and on the web. In addition, there are extended functionalities, such as downloading your own seizures in PDF and CSV format. This way, the diary can be easily printed out, e.g. to present it to the treating doctor. You can always access current and individual evaluations of your reported seizures.

How do you support the research project by participating?

CLUE is a citizen science research project. In particular, this means that those affected and interested, e.g. schoolchildren and students, are included in the entire research process - from the definition of the research questions to the publication of the research results. The triggering factors for cluster headaches and migraine attacks as well as the effectiveness of methods of acute treatment are being researched. It relies on the cooperation of many patients.

Previous studies were often only very regionally oriented, for example by evaluating patient data from a pain clinic, and often only a very small number of seizure reports were available. We therefore want to record a large number of seizure reports nationwide - all those affected from Germany, Austria and Switzerland can take part in the project - in order to be able to carry out detailed evaluations.

The project "CLUE - researching cluster headaches" is a research project of the Institute for Information Systems at Hof University and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. It is one of 13 projects which, by the end of 2019, will advance the cooperation between citizens and scientists in terms of content and methods and provide answers to social challenges.

Our project partners are the Königstein Migraine and Headache Clinic, represented by the chief physician Priv.-Doz. dr Charly Gaul and the Institute for Medical Psychology and Medical Sociology at the University of Rostock, represented by the Institute Director Prof. Dr. Peter Kropp.

Supporting associations are the Federal Association of Cluster Headache Self-Help Groups (CSG) e.V., the Migraine League e.V. Germany and the German Migraine and Headache Society (DMKG) e.V.
