The 2013 curriculum is designed so that students not only increase their knowledge, but also their skills and their personalities become nobler. There is a complete unity between knowledge competence, skills and attitudes. This wholeness needs to be reflected in religious learning. Through learning religious knowledge, it is hoped that religious skills will be formed and students' religious attitudes will be realized.

Of course, a balanced religious attitude includes human relationships with their Creator and human relationships with their surroundings. To ensure this balance, religious lessons need to be given special emphasis regarding character. The essence of character is a person's attitude or behavior in relation to God, oneself, family, society and nation, as well as the natural environment. So, character education is an effort to instill moral values ​​into the attitudes and behavior of the nation's generation so that they have politeness in interacting.

The moral values/character that we want to build include honesty, discipline, cleanliness, compassion, intellectual curiosity, and creativity. Here, the religious knowledge that students learn becomes a source of values ​​and drives their behavior. Just as an example, among the moral values ​​in Hinduism are known as the Tri Marga (devotion to God, parents and teachers; karma, working as well as possible to present to other people and God; Jnana, seeking as much knowledge as possible for life's provisions and life guidance ) and Tri Warga (dharma, acting based on truth; artha, fulfilling life's necessities based on truth, and karma, fulfilling desires in accordance with applicable norms).

The key word is, character is action, not just knowledge that students must remember, so the learning process should lead them from knowledge about goodness, then create a commitment to goodness, and finally actually do goodness.

This book describes the minimum effort that students must make to achieve the expected competencies. In accordance with the approach used in the 2013 Curriculum, students are invited to be brave enough to look for other learning resources that are available and spread widely around them. The teacher's role in increasing and adapting students' absorption capacity to the availability of activities in this book is very important. Teachers can enrich it with creations in the form of other appropriate and relevant activities originating from the social and natural environment.
