The BMW e31 is a BMW 8 series body type vehicle produced between 1989-1999. BMW wanted to participate in the race between the E31 design and super sports cars and made the M8 in 1990. But since the BMW e31 M8 was much more expensive than other BMW models produced, it became an unpopular model. It stopped production in 1999.

The BMW e31 M8, on the other hand, gave life to the McLaren F1 by strengthening its engine.

The BMW e31 inspired engineers to build the 6 Series based on the model E24, designed as a grand tourer powered by a V8 and V12 engine.
