The Dogmatic Constitution Dei Verbum of the Second Vatican Council ended with the hope for the entire ecclesial community "a new impulse of spiritual life from increased veneration of the Word of God" (Mariano Crusade)

In the presentation of the Bible CEI (2008) it is said that "the existing translation has been revised according to the original texts (Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek), according to the best editions available today" (cfr. The Holy Bible. Introductions and Notes, Conference Italian Episcopal, 2008, p. 7 and note 5).
