Bihar Voluntary Health Association (BVHA) is a State level network organization working on the

issues of health and its social determinants. BVHA under More than Brides Alliance Project, has

developed BAL MITRA/BAL PRAHRI app to create awareness in the communities especially the

children, adolescents and the people involved in protection of the children and adolescents. Each

and every child has rights as equal to other citizens. The convention on the rights of the child sets

out the rights that must be realized for children to develop to their full potential. These sets of rights

need to be protected to safeguard the children from violence, exploitation, abuse and neglect. In the

Article 19 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child provides for the protection of children in

and out of the home.

This mobile app not only provides awareness on various child protection components like child

marriage, child labour, Juvenile Justice act, POCSO Act, Right to Education, child trafficking, child

protection committee but also it has SOS facilities in case of any emergency.

Child Protection Committee’s role is to identify and track the children at risk in their area. The

mobile app has unique feature to enable the authorised persons of CPC to enter the list of

vulnerable children as per the vulnerability assessment and also get access to the data for proper

follow-up.

We have great hope that this mobile app will provide the required help to the children, adolescents,

child protection committees and at large the whole communities.
