ACCAN: Accessing Video Advice

Accessibility tip sheets and news about Australian subscription VoD providers.

Captions and audio description improve television for people with disabilities. These access features were supposed to be more available on Video on Demand but it can be hard to figure out what’s available and how to turn these features on. Use this app to stay up to date with the accessibility of Australian providers Netflix Australia, Stan, Presto Entertainment, Quickfix and Foxtel Play. The app provides

2. Links to news articles addressing accessibility of video on demand in Australia.

This app was created by researchers at Curtin University as part of the ACCAN funded project Accessing Video on Demand: A study of disability and streaming television.

The operation of the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network is made possible by funding provided by the Commonwealth of Australia under section 593 of the Telecommunications Act 1997. This funding is recovered from charges on telecommunications carriers.
