"Historical Records" is the first general history of China's Bibiography written by Sima Qian. It records more than 3000 years of history (philosophy, politics, economy, military, etc.) from the time of the Yellow Emperor in ancient legends to the first year of Emperor Wudi of the Han Dynasty.
《史記》是由司馬遷撰寫的中國第壹部紀傳體通史。記載了上自上古傳說中的黃帝時代，下至漢武帝元狩元年間共3000多年的歷史（哲學、政治、經濟、軍事等）。《史記》最初沒有固定書名，或稱“太史公書”，或稱“太史公傳”，也省稱“太史公”。“史記”本是古代史書通稱，從三國時期開始，“史記”由史書的通稱逐漸成為“太史公書”的專稱。《史記》與後來的《漢書》（班固）、《後漢書》（範曄、司馬彪）、《三國誌》（陳壽）合稱“前四史”。劉向等人認為此書“善序事理，辯而不華，質而不俚”。與司馬光的《資治通鑒》並稱“史學雙璧”。
