Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr, Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Ubaid bin Sufyan bin Qais Al-Baghdadi Al-Qurashi, their client, a loyalist of the Umayyads (208 AH - 281 AH), nicknamed Ibn Abi Al-Dunya (his title overshadowed his name until he became famous for it); Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr was born in the city of Baghdad, in the early third century AH, in the year two hundred and eight (208 AH). He is an Arab historian and writer. He taught Al-Mu’tadid Al-Abbasi and his son Al-Muktafi Billah. Al-Hafiz Ibn Katheer - may God have mercy on him - said about him in the beginning and the end: “He is famous for his many, useful, and popular writings, which are widespread in Al-Ruqiq and other things, and he was honest, a memorizer, and of chivalry.”

“Moses said: O Lord, this rain will not descend, and when it descends it will not be of any benefit. He said: The abundance of adultery and the emergence of usury.”

“Abu Bakra said: If it rains in Basra, the world will rain.”

“Umar ibn al-Khattab said: Tremors are a result of excessive adultery, and dripping rain is a result of the arbitrators of evil and the imams of injustice.”

“On the authority of Sa`id: {And in the sky is your provision and what you are promised} [Al-Dhariyat: 22]. He said: Snow, and every spring [p. 91] melts from the snow.

“When Al-Hasan saw the clouds, he would say: In this, and God has provided for you, but you deprive him of it because of your transgressions and transgressions.”

“On the authority of Ibn Sabit, he said: Mikael, peace be upon him, was responsible for the rain and the plant.”
