Rowayat Hafs Offine

Biography of Abd al-Rashid ibn Ali ibn Abd al-Rahman Sufi.

He was born in Somalia and settled in Qatar in 1991. Many scholars graduated from his hands, and established numerous schools and centers for learning and teaching the Qur’an, the last of which was his famous mosque in Mogadishu called Sheikh Ali Sufi Mosque. He now works as an imam at the Anas bin Malik Mosque in the Qatari capital, Doha. He also participates as a certified referee in Quran recitation competitions, including his participation in arbitration in the Tijan Al-Noor competition, which is held annually by the Qatari J TV.

His studies

He completed the memorization of the Qur’an when he was ten years old, then he mastered the science of intonation at the hands of his father, Sheikh according to the narration of Hafs from Asim, and after that the seven readings through the Shatibiya and listened to the explanation of the Shatibiya from his father more than three times and memorized it.

His trip to Egypt to seek knowledge

He traveled to Egypt to complete the science of readings in October 1981 AD, and there he joined the Institute of Readings, and obtained a high certificate in the ten readings from this institute.

Sheikh Muhammad bin Ismail Al-Hamadhani authorized it two permits with its chain of transmission related to the Holy Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him; The first: in the ten readings from the path of Shatibiya and Al-Durra, and the second: in the ten readings from the path of goodness.

His trip to Qatar

He came to Qatar in 1991, where he worked since his arrival at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs - as an imam and preacher at the Anas bin Malik Mosque in the Central Market area in Doha.

He now holds Qatari citizenship.

Sheikh Abdirashid Sufi is the most famous reciter in Somalia.

He participated in several meetings, advocacy lectures, reading the Noble Qur’an, and leading prayers outside the State of Qatar.
