The systematic book on the history of nations and kings

Explore in this comprehensive book a journey through time, as it combines our knowledge of the beginnings of things, the news of the prophets, the biographies of kings and sages, and the stories of the ancients. He began his work by mentioning the evidence of the existence of God, then traced creation and the stories of the prophets, the beginning of Adam and his exit from Paradise, and the first to inhabit the earth, All the way to Christ, son of Mary, and he narrated the stories of the kings of the world, and touched on the major empires, extending the history of the Persians and their kings, and he sufficed with talking about some of the events of the Roman lands and their relationship with the Persians and the building of Constantinople. He did not mention any of the Greek kings except Alexander the Great and Ptolemy, and an aspect of the scientific life of the Greeks. While he neglected the history of China and Egypt.

Ibn al-Jawzi devoted most of his time to talking about the Prophet’s biography, the stage of birth and prophecy, and after that the stage of migration, with which he began another approach, starting with the first year of the migration until the end of the book, where he mentions the events of each year and concludes it with the deaths of this year.

After the Prophet’s biography, Ibn al-Jawzi touched on the Rashidun era, dealing with the political and military incidents that occurred during the rule of the Rashidun Caliphs. He addressed the apostasy movement, the incidents of the Peninsula, and the liberation movements in Iraq, the Levant, and Egypt. He also addressed the administrative incidents in the Umayyad era, and addressed the revolution and martyrdom of Hussein. And the movement of Zaid bin Ali, the movements of the Kharijites, the movement of Musa bin Masrah Al-Kharji, and the Zubayri movement.

This book is distinguished from previous history books in that it combines being a historical narrative of events over the years, and containing three thousand three hundred translations of various personalities, including caliphs, kings, ministers, jurists, hadith scholars, historians, philosophers, poets, compilers, and others.
