The book of Safinah an-Naja is a book of fiqh of the Shafi'i school of fiqh written by Shaykh Salim bin Sumair al-Hadromiy.

Shaykh Salim bin Sumair himself is a scholar from Hadramaut, Yemen. However, he died in the Betawi area or Jakarta in 1271 H. Until now, his tomb is unknown, it is said that the tomb of Shaykh Salim bin Sumair is behind the Al Makmur mosque, Tanah Abang, Jakarta.

The book of Safinah, written by Shaykh Salim bin Sumair, has been widely studied by the Indonesian people. In various Islamic boarding schools, the Book of Safinah is used as the basic curriculum in learning the science of fiqh of the Shafi'i madhhab.

In addition, this book is also widely studied in public studies. For example, in the recitation of Muslim mothers, the recitation of fathers and the recitation of the youth. Everyone uses the Safinah book as a basic material for studying fiqh.

Besides Indonesia, the book of Safinah is also popular in other Southeast Asian countries. Because many Muslim communities who follow the Shafi'iyah school study this simple book of fiqh.

At the beginning of this book, Shaykh Salim bin Sumair prioritized the discussion about ushuludin. Namely about the details of the pillars of Islam, the pillars of faith and also the meaning of the sentence of monotheism.

After these 3 discussions, Shaykh Salim entered into the discussion of fiqh. He started the discussion of fiqh by describing the characteristics of puberty.

According to Shaykh Nawawi al-Bantani in Kasyifatu as-Saja, why did Shaykh Salim explain the characteristics of baligh, that is, because baligh is the initial limit for a Muslim to be subject to taklif. Including being subject to the rules for carrying out fiqh.

Altogether, there are 77 chapters contained in the safinah book, plus 1 khotimah.
