Being a good wife is not hard, especially when you know what your husband needs. Support, stability, kindness, and love are some of the things that you need to give him as his wife.

The hardest part of being married is learning to understand that everything isn't about you anymore. No matter what you do, there is another person to consider. It can take a while to get used to this way of life, particularly if you were very independent before. If your husband has the desire to spend the evening with his male friends rather than with you, your first instinct may be to lash out at him for not wanting to spend time with you. This is the incorrect response.

When I chose to write about how to be a good wife, all I could do was roll my own eyes. If you asked my husband if I was a good wife, I am quite sure he would say “maybe,” but only out of fear. We all want to be the perfect wife, don’t we?.

A nurturing partner makes a better husband and a better father. Household chores should not be limited to the wife only. Learn to do the laundry, press clothes, mop, wax and scrub the floor so that fair share of work is successfully completed. Also, grabbing the basket and heading off to the market and the grocery store is a non-conventional activity for a guy, but if you really want to improve to become a better partner, do it! This will earn a double thumbs-up from your wife.

We want to be the woman we all grew up watching on television who is kind-hearted, who laughs when her husband fumbles something, or is okay when he goes out seven nights a week with friends. The problem is that being a good wife is an illusion that destroys the way we see ourselves as well as the way that men think their wives should be.

No one is perfect. I mean, maybe Mother Teresa was, maybe she wasn’t, who is to tell. All I know is that when the kids are crying, I have been locked in my house all day, and my husband comes home and pretends that I don’t exist, it is really, really, hard to be a good wife.
